250 detects gold...

Ran some air tests on the 250 using a quarter-inch by quarter-inch nugget and an eigth-inch nugget. The quarter-inch came in at 4-5 inches and the eighth -inch at 2-3 inches. It will detect the nugget in all metal, jewelry, custom, and relic mode. Rather surprising. I've had big bucks machines that performed no better.
Soon as it quits raining I'm going to bury the nuggets in my mineralized back yard and see what happens.

Yeah I know but there's a big difference between pure gold and gold jewelry.

Bill,
Would you please air test a nickel for me? I have a couple machines that operate near the freq range Garrett chose for this one and like them as "all-around" detectors.
Also, how well do you think the 250 will do at iron level disc on small non-ferrous items in regard to masking/averaging as I'm curious about the design of the coil and its effect on performance. It sure is different looking. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
Thanks, Tom
