250+12-inch coil= deep quarters..

Went to a soccer field this afternoon ( that I have hunted many times ) for an hour or two with the 250 and 12 inch coil. Most of the quarters came from 8-9 + inches down as did a few of the dimes. Had to leave a couple of quarters ( that read as 8 inches deep and were probably deeper ) as my weak pinpoint petered out and I couldn't center them or pinpoint them. I tried probing all over for them but the soil is sandy and a bitch to probe in.

Soon as I send the 250 in to get the pinpoint tweaked I'm going back after those deep ones. I could have been a goon and dug big, ugly holes looking for them but I couldn't have lived with myself. :) Could have found more coins but daylight was fading. As you can see most of these coins have been there a day or two and there are probably more lurking there at undetermined depths. In this kind of soil they sink fairly fast.

I'll be posting a piece soon describing the pros and cons of this coil. It has a few quirks but you'll love it. One thing - it is a slow scanner if you don't want to miss some targets and requires a form of twitching over the target if you want a proper response.

Yeah there were a lot more there plus the deep ones I couldn't pinpoint. I should recover a lot more after I get the pinpoint on my 250 tweaked. I get a lot of good signals that I can't pinpoint and trying to pinpoint the old fashioned way is a little tricky with this big coil as the location of the coin in reference to the pinpoint hotspot changes with depth and either reads farther back or off to the side.

In my 250 goodie can I have 1620 coins and 326 of them are quarters, nearly equal to the dimes which number 359.

Using a different container for each different detectors finds. You get some interesting information after a years worth.

Hey.....I just had to throw in my two cents worth, I just walked out the front door this afternoon with my three year old Granddaughter, and my Ace250Pro, with the 12" coil, I KNOW I searched the area though and through last week, with the sniper 4.5", but in less then 15 minutes I walked away with an old Case pocket knife, two quarters, a handful of pennies, one 1946 wheatie, and a pile of dimes, let me tell you this......I am sold on the 12" coil, pinpointing isn't a problem, there is a lot of chattering, if you're in all metal or even if you EL and discriminate to the penny mode, but after a few minutes of noise detection, you'll learn to slow down your swing rate and gain a pocket full in exchange for a little patience!!!!
