24k Gold Find

A little over 2 weeks ago, I was hunting a park that apparently has been hunted very little.
I was hunting the park with my White's M6 and after a short time I decided to set my detector for cherry picking.
I swung the coil over a solid 77 no mater what direction I swung from. It was reading dime at 3 inches. I cut the plug and when I turned it over I saw what looked like gold but then I thought, it's too yellow to be gold. When I pulled it out of the plug and checked it, it was marked as you can see in the photos. I did an acid test with 22k and the gold did not disolve. I have ordered an electronic gold tester that should be here any day now to test it again.

My question to those that have found 24k gold items is what readings did your machine give? The ring was a little larger than a dime and there are some that are curious about high ID of 77. This is my first 24k find so I ran it across my MXT coil and it also read 77.

Beautiful little ring! The acid test should be conclusive and I'm thinking a christening ring? because of it being so small. Just guessing here! Cograts!

WOW nice find, a 24k ring had to make your heart pump, ive seen gold read from light foil all the way up to zinc ranges.... way to go

Ive never found 24k nor anything higher than 18k... the largest gold ring i ever found was 14k and read straight up on the meter same as an indianhead or zinc penny..other than that ive only ever had one gold ring that read high in the dime range and it was 14k.. almost all other gold rings ive found read in nickle range give or take a little... i dont understand the kt 10 24k marking... i hope it is 24k... good luck, nice find..

10K ring with a 24K overlay?

I can tell you that after cleaning this nugget (one that my xl glove size hand can't close on) rings in at 0-26 and 0-27 on one side, and 3-26/27 on the other, both dime numbers on my ML EX SE, it has the same pitch as a dime but instead of a quick ringing sound of a dime I get a long violin sound. I found it with a GB 2, that is a very very nice ring:

My thoughts as well. The detector should read right through the plating but then again, the numbers could be jumping around if it was plated and the OP said the ID was solid.

In any case very nice find.

Hi I own a XP Deus & was fortunate to find 4 pieces od 24Kt gold 1 year & all of the readings were very high for my machine in penny range so I think pure gold does read very high. gold ranges very but most of the other gold rings I have found were in the47- 50 range. The 24 kt. ones I found ranged from 62- 86 & they were very small ones. Congrats on a great find!

I was on a group hunt with my club when a friend found a very small ring that was marked .999.
Also a dime signal which confused most other members because it was so high for such a small gold ring.
Not me...the higher the karat the higher it will come in.
Buttery look, high tone, dime numbers....you got yourself some 24k there just as marked.
CongratZ!
