2016 coil choices, need advice

I am planning a coil upgrade on my Excal II.
I was first set on the SEF 12 x 15 butterfly after seeing so many people with them on the treasure beaches here after the recent hurricane.
(I met one well known detectorist who had just scooped up 23 1/2 and 1 reale coins from the sand dune, using that coil).

Then I read about the NEL 15 attack coil.
I spoke with Kellyco and they said that the NEL Attack was unstable with some of the Excaliburs, as if it was a coin toss whether it would work or not.
They have had about 5 or more returns on them, so they wont recommend them.

They recommended the 15 Tornado from NEL instead, but I cannot find a single review on that coil with the Excalibur, so I am reluctant to be a guinea pig.
Is the lack of reviews and info because it is so new ?

The other coil they recommended is the WOT.
But as I understand from reviews, the WOT has been surpassed in performance by other coils in same size range.
This detector will be used mainly in wet/dry sand, seldom in water more than a foot deep.
The treasure beaches where I intend to use it are not heavy on trash.
My intent is to gain some depth and more coverage per hour.
I will be upgrading the phones from the GG UW to the GG Amphibians, and adding a remote pinpoint switch.
But mainly I am in a hurry to select a coil, since that is the only "unknown".

Suggestions appreciated.

The WOT was suspended at one point too..... maybe good now. Im amazed Kelleyco didnt point you toward the SEF. Those bigger coils can get unstable near the surf..... but thats normal..... just turn um done they will still get the depth over a standard coil. I can say the 13" is a GREAT coil..... but near the water will also false and i my testing says thats where the standard coil catches up in depth and stability. AWAY from the water ...... the NELs and most of the larger coils will do you right. Some of these complaints about these larger coils may be the operator.

I have used the Sunray S-12, Detech Ultimate 13", the Detech SEF 10X12 and of course the standard coil. All the larger coils gave amazing depth. I ran sensitivity to where they just occasionally gave a false signal.

I am warming to the SEF 10 x 12 or 12 x 15.
I am hoping to head over to Kellyco on Tuesday, my only day off, for the upgrade.
My 4 pin connector won't be here in time so I will let them hard wire it.
I can always add the connector (in-line) later.
So, the choice is between the 10 x 12 or 10 x 15 now .............
BTW they want a ridiculous price for the WOT, like over 400 installed.
And ... I don't know why the NEL 15 Tornado was recommended.
I simply can't find any info on that coil, and NEL has the coil shown, but no information, which is leading me to think it's a new model for the Sov/Excal :

http://nelcoil.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=62_99&product_id=215

I am assuming now that the 12 x 15 will get me better depth than the 10 x 12 or am I wrong here ?
I understand the sensitivity issues with larger coils as a possible negative vs the smaller coils.
Ultimately I want to be competitive on the treasure beaches.
My regular Excal 1000 will be reserved for water hunting with the stock coil.

Thanks for the input.

Hope you arent looking to get that machine back FAST. Except for warranty serve Kelleyco is swamped. I know someone whose been waiting for 2 mos and was told it could be another 4 weeks. ANY of the larger coils will serve you well in the dry sand.... the SEFs are a bit heavy. The 13" is about the weight of the standard coil. Near the water/in the water you just have to turn them down to get them stable. THATS where the difference between the coils occur. You might ask Ron Delgado i believe he is a NEL dealer he also makes the T-Rex scoop. Im sure some of those Jersey Shore guys have used um.

I know its not the same, I have the NEL Tornado on my Explorer 2 and like it a lot. I prefer the 10x12 SEF over the 12x15 on the Excal (especially if you go in the water). In the end its whatever works for you! Of course, there are guys who love or hate every coil and detector made (glad to help!).

I talked it over at Kellyco and ended up buying the SEF 12 x 15 for installing myself, since they are so backlogged.
I was really happy with their service.
Now I have to decide whether to put the new coil on the Ex1000 or the EXII.
Both units currently have the stock 10 inch coils in good working order.

Oh... and I also bought a CTX 3030 while I was in the store.
Shame on me. I should not be allowed to carry a credit card.
I am now overwhelmed with newness of things to do.
Both Excals will get the pinpoint mod and GG Amphibians.
And the CTX will get the GG Amphibians also.

Oh and there's the old Sword that needs fixing up .......

Thanks for all the input so far folks.

I'll be trying out a 14x10 Detech excelerator soon. Interesting to see how it compares to the 13" Ultimate

Can't say enough good things about my NEL ATTACK coil on my Excal. I hunt salt water and I use this coil knee deep up to the dry sand. Runs smooth as silk and deep. Good luck on your choice.

I would be interested in buying the 10" BBS 1000 coil if you wish to sell it. Thanks
