Had another fun year chasing that elusive silver coinage. Thanks to the A T Pro not all of it stayed hidden. Although I do swing another detector on rare occasions, the A T Pro found 99 % of this years silver and gold.
Sniffed out a silver Rosie yesterday, so ended the year with 139 silver coins. Missing from the two group shots are a 64 Kennedy half and a 64 Washington quarter, that I gave away for our club Christmas gift exchange. The 1 dark coin with the biggest silver group is the 1865 2 cent piece I was fortunate enough to get my coil over this past fall. That, in fact, was my oldest coin find for 2014 and my first 2 center found.
Over the course of the year I did recover 6 gold rings. Of which, not all are handy for taking a group shot. I'm not a big trash digger, so any gold finds are a bonus. 6, though, is about my annual average for the past several years. According to my finds log, I found almost 30 silver jewelry items throughout the year. Along the way I found 6 V nickels, 13 Buffalo nickels, 11 I H cents, well over 400 wheat cents and several period relics.
The majority of my finds came from the Memphis area, but the lake region where we go in Minnesota and St Simons Island also contributed some old coins and jewelry. An old fairgrounds in Mn yielded me the 1896s key date Barber quarter. The only key date of any coin type I have ever found in 40 + years of detecting.
Hope everyone has a safe New Year's and a stellar 2015 detecting year. This sure is a fun hobby! HH jim tn
