Yesterday I made my last foray with a metal detector for this year. I went to the beach with the Excal. Dug up $7.50 in clad, a couple of pieces of junk jewelry and one ring that I think is most likely Stainless Steel. It does not have a hallmark.

After finishing the cleanup of my clad I put the years clad on the bathroom scales. 36 lbs of clad for the year. Now to take it to the Credit Union and let them count it for me.

Havent finished cleaning up the lincolns/Zinclons but will have quite a few pounds of those also.

Found 4 pieces of gold this year and a number of pieces of sterling to go along with a few silver coins.

I had a blast this year. Hope my health continues to be great and that I can keep on keeping on thru the upcoming year.

Happy New Year Everyone. May the upcoming year be one of your best yet.

George nice find. This year I need to make it down to WV and do some detecting.Happy New Ron

36#! Don't forget to post the total when you get it. (and you know I am envious of your gold! but I did bring home 3.25# of lead from SC.)

After a bit of research the ring is a Stainless Steel Spinner Ring. Retail value of 15 to 20 dollars. It goes in my junk jewelry box.

I keep all the lead that I find and recycle it into sinkers that I can use. During the spring I fish for blue catfish when they are up shallow feeding on fresh water clams and then during their spawning season. I actually fish up to 13 rods at a time so that can mean getting hung up a lot and losing the hook and sinkers. Since I am frugal (some call it Cheap) I use recycled sinkers.

I only found three rings (Two men's 14k wedding bands, one little girls 10k w/black onyx) and one Grill. Someone should have kept his mouth shut when that wave hit him in the face.

A rough total of the clad that I found this year not counting those with mr lincoln on them is a little over $600.00. I would guess that I have between 30 and 40 dollars in stinking lincolns.

In Nov I was detecting a city park in Wv and found a couple of sinkers that were lost. There is a nice pond (they call it a lake) in the park that the DNR stocks with trout in Jan and Mar. Not really sure why one would want to use the size sinkers that I found. Not like they were fishing in the surf.

Unfortunately I also lost one of my hearing aids when I took my headphones off while out detecting. Thankfully it was insured against loss/theft/damage. I did not remember that it was covered by insurance and was a little shocked when the Audiologist at Fort Jackson in Columbia said "No Charge" for the replacement. The Army treats this old Retired Sailor real Good.

Happy New Yr along with good health and happiness. All of you have made a great place here lets keep up the good work next yr.
