2012 Fall Minnesota hunt

I recently got back from my annual fall trip to Minnesota to hang out with my cousin Mike (Michelob here on the forum) and as usual we had a blast. This trip was a little different since we did not detect all day for a week straight. Instead, we spent the majority of our time fishing which was a lot of fun too. We did manage get get a couple part days in on the way up to and on the way back from the lake and on the last day we got our usual all day hunt in.

Since we didn't detect that much my overall finds were lower than normal but I still did manage 11 silver and a couple buffalos and one injun.

The best find for me was in the evening of the last day there when I FINALLY got my Seated liberty quarter! This is my first ever in over 25 years of detecting and those who know me well know that this has been my main coin goal for the past 4 years. I was so excited to finally get one and she is a beauty!

Of course the CTX did not disappoint. One place we hit was a new park to us on the way to our main spot for the day. As soon as I got out of the car we saw covered plugs everywhere and knew this place was hit hard recently. Well they must have not had a Minelab because they missed the 1894 Barber half at over 8 inches deep surrounded by trash, The CTX nailed it and Michelob's E-trac could hit it too. Gotta love the Minelabs:clapping:

Here are the pics of the finds

A lot of nice silver there congrats on the good finds.:twodetecting::minelab::cheers:

Super cool finds and congrats on your Lady.

Im thinking of making my next goal a half dime

Amazing hunt, cant wait to get my first seated quarter.Congrats

Great finds Bob - I look forward to drooling over your Minnesota hunt finds every year - no disappointment this year! Congrats on that seated quarter (still waiting for mine) and the barber half is great as well:wiggle:

That's an impressive pile of silver for only a few days of partial hunting. The seated is in great shape and even looks a little frosty. How deep was the seated?

The quarter was only 4 inches deep but in a rocky area in top of a hill where nothing could sink much deeper. Gave off a beautiful signal. Not sure how it was missed all these years but I am glad if was:detecting:

The CTX is an awesome:cheers: machine. I have been getting silver out of a park that was given up on many years ago. Most of the coins are deep and but some have been masked in the past by trash. This thing just gets better ! Richard !!!

Having a blast with your cousin, fishing in Minnesota, digging silver dimes, Buffalo nickels, an IH cent, Seated quarter and a Barber half..... it don't get much better than that. Congrats on taking some time off and enjoying what life is all about. HH Randy

that quarter is in nice shape , nice
