2011 season is over...my totals

2011 was a great year! I didn't find the HUGE silver like I did last year, but I did find many good things, and had quite a few firsts. I found my first large cent, first Buffalo nickel, first Victoria silver, and my first Barber dime. I might add that almost all of my good coin finds this year were made at sites that I was sure I had cleaned out last year with my old detector. This A.T. Pro really impressed me, and now I'm TOTALLY sure these sites are empty! Well not really...you know what they say about sites being "hunted out" lol.

I found a total of 914 coins with a face value of $72.26. Of those, 47 are silver. last year I found 53 silver coins, so I'm averaging 50 silver coins per season. I'm happy with that, but next year I'm going to try to beat it! Jewelry finds were similar to last year, but the gold eluded me. I need to dig more of those mid-tone signals. Another neat find is the "Case Threshing Machines" pin, it was found at the site where I found my Morgan and Barber halves last year. My #1 goal this year was to find a Barber dime...and I found three of them woohoo! My most valuable coin find this year is probably the 1903 5 cent fish scale, beautiful condition, probably worth 50 or 60 bucks.

Here are some pictures of some of my finds. Not pictured is the pile of clad, and the ton of relics I kept.

I really enjoyed using my new A.T. Pro, and having the Pro Pointer made life so much easier. Thanks Garrett!!!

I'm extremely jealous of you lucky ducks that are still out hunting. It's getting pretty chilly here, and the snow is here to stay till April. I can NOT wait till next season! Happy hunting everybody!

Great goin JC:clapping: I'm sure you'll do even better next season. Will keep things goin for you from here during the winter. Supposed to hit 70 today:)

You done well in the silver and old coins department.
Expand your detecting horizons next year and you'll do well.:detecting:
You'll always get something at hunted out spots .:wiggle:

Are you done? What about snow hunting?
John, I live in a very sparsely populated area, and there are no real toboggan/sled hills here. I'm sure in Edmonton there are good places where people play in the snow, but not around here.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I am looking forward to next spring, but it might not be the best for metal detecting for me...I am building a new house! As soon as the snow melts we are going to get the project going. I am in the construction business, so it's going to be work all day, and then build the new house in the evenings and weekends. I will definitely enjoy the times I do get to sneak out for a hunt.

Some really nice finds you made, that 1903 five cent silver is indeed a beauty. Sorry it has to end for the year, frozen ground sucks! Thanks for sharing.
