2009 or 2010 garrett infinium how much difference is there

I have a chance to buy a garrett infinium the guy bought it a couple of years ago new he found gold with it and got a good deal on a minelab so the infinium didn't get much use he said only about 20 hours total he said it looks new. Was there much difference in the 2009 and 2010 models from the current models ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Prospector

I just wanted to give a BIG Thanks to all that replied to my threads. I made the deal I am getting the infinium that has been used twenty hours. He is sending both the 10x14 coil and a 4x8 coil. I have two more questions, which coil should I use ? which coil is better for what ?

10 x 14 DD good for the beach and deep large stuff in high mineral ground
10 x 14 mono great for everthing and everywhere.
4 x 8??????? HMMMMMMMMM Me thinks yo is joshin me lad:confused:
8 inch mono, Ditto as per big mono
5 x 10 DD Good at the beach, parks n gardens and in the gold fields but not so flash for depth
3 x 7 DD Ditto.

Sorry 8 inch.

How do you tell the difference between mono and DD ? So the 10x14 is the stock one I guess that would be the DD ?

Yes; The big DD has a dividing section running both lengthways and across the the back end of the coil. The divider down the middle of the coil is where the two internal windings overlap in the so called DD configuration.

The large Mono has just the divider running across the rear of the coil

The 8 inch is contained in a single open round coil housing.

The two small DDs are both marked with a DD sticker and are in totally enclosed coil housings

So since I will only be looking for gold nuggets in heavy to moderate mineralized ground if you were me would you go with the 8 inch mono or the 10x14 DD ? We have pickers to pretty good size nuggets here.

The 8 inch mono would be better on the pickers than the 10 x 14 DD but the DD would likely run a bit quieter in the high minerals.
If I was only taking one coil I would probably go with the 8 inch.

If I was taking two I would take 8 inch and the 10 x 5 DD because the 8 inch detects almost deep as the big mono and is better on small gold and is lighter. Then I would use the 5 x 10 DD to find the small shallow stuff in the extreme iron minerals.

There are some who use only the big DD and seem to be happy with it but I find it to be a bit vague on small gold and difficult to pinpoint with.

One thing to remember is that all of the Infinium coils will respond to the same minmum size nugg but they can be more difficult to hear on the 10 x 14 DD in that the tone may only be a slight variation in the threshold rather than a hi/lo or lo/hi tone
