2008 Hunt Number 1

Well it got up to almost 70 here today. Last week below zero. A whole lot of the snow melted and as I wrote someplace yesterday there was a patch of grass at one of my favorite spots which wasn't too swampy. I still had nice fresh batteries in the 2500 from last year so off I went. 18 coins for $1.87. Plenty of junk too. First coin of the year was a 2007 State Quarter (Washington) which is now permanently out of circulation in my book. I normally don't detect on a day when I have to work but had to make an exception as it was just so nice. Had a reporter ask to take my picture. I politely declined and told her there were probably a lot more interesting people out there to photograph. It's not in my nature to self promote. It seems too conceited to me. When I make the front page of the newspaper I want it to be something spectacular like: "Local Metal Detectorist Decapitated in Freak Merry-Go-Round Accident" or "Local Oaf Jailed After Post Office Shooting Spree."

Hunted for almost 2 hours. My back is aching. I am going to take 2 ibuprofen and hit the hay. Supposed to be warm tomorrow but rainy so it looks like the detector is back out of action. All in all a great day. A bit closer to my 2008 goals. Never thought I would even start until late March, early April.

Photos not taken. I'm too tired.

Chris

Chris, I'm glad to hear you were able to get out. I hope you don't go postal on anyone. Don't let the cabin fever get the best of you.

Yea, and watch your head on those "merry go rounds"!
