2005 totals....

Well, here's how my year stacked up.

I found $115.38 in clad, better than last year.

I managed to get out 110 times, so I averaged $1.05 in clad per hunt, again, better than last year.

I found 257 old coins, 210 Wheat's (some from small caches in my MIL's house), an 1845 LC (my first), a lonely Indian Scout dated 1883, three Buff's dated '24, '27, and '36, two War Nickels, 27 silver dimes, 7 silver quarters, and 6 silver halves (4 of those from a cache from my MIL's). This gives me 42 silver coins, and a copper : silver ratio of 5.05 : 1. I only found 29 silvers last year, so my count is up, and this is the closest ratio I've ever had.

For jewelery, I found 6 gold rings (counting the one today from my MIL's), 14 pieces of silver jewelery, which is more of gold and silver than I found last year. I also found my first class ring this year.

Sorry I don't have any pics, as my digital camera died on me about a month ago.

I sure do get a rush finding old coins around here, especially in trashy areas that you would think are "hunted out".

It's time for me to hit the library and do some research.

Nice totals. I guessing I had about 15 silver this year, the best silver being a 1903 Barber dime which was my oldest up to that point, 1 buff (my first), and either a 1882 or 1883 Indian Head, broke my record of 20 minutes earlier. No gold or silver rings but one good case of poison ivy :)

Nice to see some tallys for the year. Ground is frozen here so nothing to dig until it warms up.

I passed through back in Febuary, on my way to OK to visit family. While MI was frozen solid, St. Louis appeared to be thawed out and readily diggable. I was itching to stop and hunt, but had another 10 hours of driving to do first.

I've been frozen in since Thanksgiving. I haven't really been watching the news to see how far the deep-freeze has extended it's grip.

Good going on your first Buff. Hopefully next year you'll get some more!

We are getting little thaw now but most of the week it is below freezing. Was deer hunting the first week of December in southern Illinois about 140 miles south of St. Louis and temps were minus 2.

Long winter when deer seasons (Mo & Ill) are over and ground too hard to dig. Better run, have a nice holiday season.
