Hey everyone,
This is my good coin finds for the 2005 hunting season. It doesn't include the gobs of Wheaties or the $40+ in spending change that I have also found.
For anyone who thinks "young" towns don't have anything good to offer, they may wish to look a my photo. I have an 1895 local county map & my home town isn't even on it, yet all the coins shown were found in it, with my old White's 6000Di PRO SL.
I didn't get out near as much last year as I would have liked to, as I've done much better in previous years, but this year will be different! Already in just the past week I've found nearly as many Mercury dimes as I did all of last year. I've also just found a 1915-D Buffalo nickel in VG to Fine condition ($20+)!
About some of the pictured coins: I've found several Barber dimes in the past, but this is my first Barber quarter & half dollar. The German coin was found within a half mile from one of Roosevelt's old CC Camps. During WWII it was used as a German officer POW camp. Around 1910 to 1940 my home town was a railroad Mecca with its own round house. Many immigrants from all over the world (including Russia) moved here to work on the railways. The Russian coin was found within a couple of blocks from the rail yards. (I have just been offered $100 for all the coins pictured!)
At the end of this season I will post a picture of this years finds. Enjoy!
P.S. - Treasure unsearched is treasure that remains lost. Don't allow the earth to be the sole benefactor. Hunt on everyone!
