Hello Guys,

I'm new to detecting. I'm considering buying a 2002 DFX. It is in excellent condition. My question is: Is the 2002 about the same as the 2007? If the 2007 model is much better, I won't buy the 2002. I can get it with all the extras for $600.00. Can a knowledgeable DFX user please advise me on this decision? Thanks.

That's a good price for a DFX with extras.Buy it and have fun.Read all you can and ask questions(send me an E-mail if you like)HH-Jerry

Just remember the machine is 5 years old. I myself might be a little cautious about buying a detector without at least some of the warranty left. Also>>>>are you buying it from a dealer? In person? Be careful...just read about a guy who bought an xlt on another forum for $500 never got it!!!

On the subject of the dfx, if you do get one. Stop in the dfx forum and join in the discussion of the worlds best detector!

Also have the person test the detector before you buy it.
Whites are very good detectors and will last a long time.
I still have a coinmaster 1 that is still going strong.
If the price is that good you can have Whites electonics check it out for you.The DFX is a Very Hi end detector....good luck to ya...CC

Depending on what "all the extras" are, it seems to be the going price for a used DFX. There are only two changes that I'm aware of. One is the wording on the coil/box and the other is the newer model has a heavier arm cuff. The heavier gauge cuff can be purchased if and when the older one breaks. I would not be afraid of an older model, especially if it has been slightly used. Mine is 6 years old and works as good as new.
