From what I understand, this is impossible to happen at the mint??
But this sucker was crusty, been in the ground a long time
Was this possible in the old days of minting coins???
I'm quite sure it was supposed to be a 1909 S VDB
Thanks Steve.
It's just seemed weired to find this where we we getting stuff from 1890-1925
Not much of a span of time
So I guess it's not that one and only coin, that everybody wants
...from what i can see, they pretty much figured a double-headed or double-tailed coin was an impossiblility, but 4 authentic ones have shown up.
I did see where someone said the first thing to do is to have it weighed, something a local jeweller would be able to do for you. If it's way off 3.11 grams one way or the other, you're pretty much sure it's a novelty coin. If it weighs in, what the heck, have somebody look at it.
I see a few mentions of other double-tailed wheaties, so the odds are it is a novelty coin, but hey, lightning could strike.
