2 things I don't like about the MI6 pinpointer

1) the on button is on the wrong side of it. All the other pinpointers that I have had have the button on the other side so i have to turn it around every time i want to use it.
2) Some times when i can't find the target with the pinpointer I have to use the detector and since the pinpointer is already on the detector won't work so I have to turn the pointer off, sweep with the detector and then turn the pointer on.
otherwise it's fine. I did have trouble getting it pair because the instructions ( or me not reading the instructions properly) as I had it on and then held it for the prescribed 8 seconds and no pairing. while turning it on keep the button pressed and then it will pair. I have not tried doing any of it's programs as I wonder if I'll screw things up and not be able to get it back working again. I have the vibration off as i don't need it since i can hear it through the headphones but it feels weird at first not feeling it vibrate and I wonder if it's working even tho I am hearing the sound...lol...

Your second point is interesting. Muscle memory will probably solve that issue, but it will be interesting to see if others feel the same way.
Your first post though ( I'm not being a troll, this is an honest question ), How can anything be on the wrong side of a cylinder ? It's round, it doesn't have sides.

the way it is in my holster and the way that i grab other pointers my hand pulls it out and my thumb is on the button. now when i pull the MI6 omyoout my thumb is on the opposite side so i have to turn it around to put my thumb on the button. i can't put it in the holster the other way.
do you have one so that you can see what i'm talking about?

I really don't care what side the button is on but I did have some difficulty trying to program it pinpointer. I was easily able to pair it but I was not really able to change the programs. It's working fine so I'm not going to full with it any more. Haven't tried it in the field yet.

Probably won't get one till Christmas, so no I don't have one. You explained it well enough for me to understand, Thanks, now it won't keep me awake wondering.

I also had difficulty re holstering the pinpointer. I noticed some sprinkler heads in my garage so I took the guts out of the barrel of one and cut off the bottom threaded part so I ended up with a sleeve about the length of the holster that had a lip on one end I loosened the holster strap and pushed the sleeve in and snugged up the strap. It works pretty darn good and being plastic doesn't harm the pinpointer and it slides in and out effortlessly.

Mounting the pin pointer on opposite hip will solve this, the button will now be with in thumbs reach as you remove the pin pointer with either hand. Straight down with closest hand or opposite hand across the belly.

Try it, you'll see what I mean. You just need to remount onto opposite hip.

Could you show any pictures?

Here are pictures. I originally said I ended up with a tube with a lip but actually the top of the sprinkler had a threaded area that I called the lip. It works fine for me anyway and I like it.

Listener, thank you!

Sorry I'm confused about #1 button being on wrong side?

As far as #2, after I dig a plug I always scan the plug and hole before turning the pointer on (so I know where the target is - hole or plug, it also lets me know if the target is centered or if I'm off a little). Sensitivity is set to the highest setting (programmed in remote based on EMI levels at the site), if the pointer doesn't pick it up I know the target is deeper (keep digging). Once the pointer gets a signal you can press the button once (just like on a garret) to narrow location in hole or plug.

he is used to using the Carrot and is familiar with its button layout so the MI-6 is going to take some time for him to learn and get used to. I think that's what he meant :)
