congrats on the great finds, I can't imagine the coin being silver with all the green encrustation on it, unless you found it in the ocean? Normally silver coins come out of the ground shiny. Keep us udated on what you find out.

Congrats on the very good finds! I really like your earing! Nice find and in good shape. I wish I could help you with the mystery coin, Beale.

Hey Beale, not sure your in the right forum when you compliment another mans earings. HA ha ha

See ya,

JFK

Well I do see what you mean!

Hey how is the hunting going hogedog? Any new spots to go to? Hope all is well, Beale.

Just got back from DC. Haven't been hunting the last week. Mr. Hearne called and said "no." Because.......long explanation but, someone had been digging unmarked graves at the site. I did explain that is not what we do...He is just scared and that is understandable. Still lining up other sites. Should have called ya when I went to DC, drove through your neck of the woods. Found out last week that there was a WWII camp site right next to my driveway!!! Gonnna do a little snooping today to see what's up. Went to a local get together the other day and it was filled with local stories once they knew I metal detected. I'll e-mail you so I don't clog this forum, just had to say something about you admiring another mans "earings." Just sounds funny, I guess all are liberal now adays!?

Certainly it can be silver. The corrosion is dependent on the ground as well as the amount of copper in the metal. A recent find of mine looked like a lost cause but it turned out to be some decent siler underneath all that verdigris: http://www.detekt.dk/sdf/funddatabase/displayimage.php?pid=6427&fullsize=1
