Today I had to see if what I learned could be repeated and found out it could.
Not long after I found my first two silver coins for the year.
Then I walked over to an old park next door and managed to find another old coin in an area I hunted before, a 1920's wheat.
On my way home I walked by another home I have permission to hunt and again in the middle of the front lawn that I have hit several times those new skill came in handy and Doug up something really special...my first monster's scrip token.
This thing was not even on the bucket list, didn't think I ever would find one unless I hunted an old miners town.
Goes to show you, those digger guys on v ain't the only ones that find coolly stuff but they had to hunt around an old mine to find theirs so mine is cooler.
Love this hobby!

Wow awesome token!!! Great finds I found a 44 War nickel not too long as well... HH

Very nice finds & a great token to boot... Can't beat that!

Good job recovering that token. Have you researched the Stith Coal Co yet?

Incorporated in 1908...now dissolved.
Not much more info out there on this company that I can find except there was a listing on EBay on a similar token which mentioned the year 1914 but it has been sold and lots of dealers are just guessing on their item descriptions.
The homes on this block were built between the mid 20's and mid 30's, I find lots of wheaties in these lawns from the teens on up up the most I find are in the 40's so I am guessing this thing dates from the 40's back to 1924 when the Osborne cash register co started making these tokens.
There is something called the Edkin's Coal Company Store Scrip book and this one is listed in there I have been told.

Super nice token and a great piece of history.
