2 Quick questions...

I have been using my ace 250 quite a bit lately, because my 350 was sent in for repair... 3 weeks and counting! My first question is what is the difference in sterling and .925 silver? I found a sterling ring today, and it was my first. I have found quite a few .925 rings though. Second question is about the excelerator 10x14 coil. It has metallic decals on the top of it, and just out of curiosity, I peeled them off and waved the coil over them. Sure enough, the coil sees them. So, my question is, how will these decals affect the depth? I took them off and have used the detector quite a bit, but haven't noticed any difference. Just seems that it would somehow be bad for depth.
Thanks in advance.

Sterling is 925 silver. That is 92.5% silver. US silver coins are .900 fine. Usually called coin silver. There are loads of other names for various purities of silver, though.

Don't know about other question. I'd leave it alone, though.

If the decals are on top, it should not effect the depth. A detector coil is bi-directional.
So while it's possible the decals could effect the pattern pointing up, it's kind of hard to
get the ground in that position.
So I doubt they have any effect.. I still might leave them off if they are metal though.
