2 questions........

1. Have all the"known about" problems been sorted by Minelab? Such as new battery seal. I will be buying a brand new machine so am hoping it will be useable straight out the box. Bearing in mind I am in the UK and am unsure as to how hand to mouth supply is. I don't want to be upgrading an older model if you know what I mean.

2. Have read comments about Andys book on the 3030, and apart from the settings (which should surely be in the manual) is there any information I can use here in the UK?

AND before you all shoot me down, the reason I ask is I found the "explorer" book of no real use. And it seems I wasn't on my own.

Feel free to have a go by all means as it won't bother me, but I have to spend £2000 to get my machine.

Andy's book was a great help for me and I would highly recommend it. I always refer back to it and it should make you a more efficient detectorist.
I came from the Garret and Whites world so for me it answered many of my questions and help make sense of alot the detector was telling me.

Good luck with the ctx manual, most find it of no real use. Andy's book does a much better job of explaining things and filling huge voids left in the manual. JJ

Andy's book is excellent!!! I agree the manual is of no real use. be sure when you make your purchase you specify you want the updated version.

I think how much one would get out of the book would probably be dependent their level of experience. One that is just starting would probably get a lot from it. Someone who has used the minelabs for years may not get as much.

Thanks for a straight answer, may have a look to see if 3030 manual available to download somewhere.

Rex,
The manual is available as a free download from the Minelab site...as are all Minelab manuals.

It's best to get it from there, as there were a couple of different revs meant to include instructions for the various additions functions added by updates.

I'm glad to have the book, but I found it to be less helpful than his Etrac book was for me when I got that.
