2 NICKLES - BUFFALO AND "V"

TURNMASTER

Active member
Got out to a local grange that was "hunted out and contained nothing but nails".
Well there were lots of nails and at least 3 coins.
The nickles are first of types for me!
1914S Buffalo and 1899 Liberty Head "V"
I was pretty happy with my hunt. 1914 in 1st 20 min. 1899 15 min later. The Memorial after leaving and going back for the 3rd hour and that is it.
Wish I could clean them without hurting them, Learn that next (maybe).

WOW, Congrat's on the nice V and Buff. Is the 1899 V your first 1800's coin?
I always enjoy finding those V's and Buff's.

Thanks Mark,
Yes that V is my oldest coin to date and both felt real good to dig. Rank right up with the 1st Merc.
Are they as valuable in the tarnished condition? Not that they are for sale. (future reference)

I will go back there and hit it some more. The lady said she had hunted it a bunch and so had others. I worked 4 feet to both sided of the side walk.
Place was built in 1913, started life as a school house and is for sale.

Congrats on the great finds! Those V's and even the Buffs are hard to come by. Very nice hunting, Beale.

First off, Congrat's on finding your FIRST 1800's coin. Second, If you clean your coins with anything more then soap and water it could decrease the value of it big time. That 14s buff, I don't think that I would clean it with anything more then soap and water.

Mark ,No I won't clean more than they are now.
Thanks Beal.

7c you will get yours too.
