I just added 2 more video clips in response to Jim and Dave's last posts. The nickel clip is sweeping only, and the Wiggle clip is sweeping and wiggling over a silver dime.
If you don't mind going through my sites home index to get to my Chart's page then click on the link below and then click on the link to my "Explorer Charts & A/V Files" page. Otherwise click hereCharts & A/V Files.

I checked out the site and the nickel sounds excellent just as Jim's did. I tried the same thing and got all sorts of garbage sounds, highs, lows and jumping in between. I'd love to get a single sound like that. Can you tell me what settings you're using, especially thrshld tone, variability and limit? -Dave

Hey Mitch good job on your page, but darned if I saw the link to the charts page..had to use your other one and that one had findmall.com in it

Do all the other coin ID tone levels sound okay on your Explorer?
Advanced screen settings:
Threshold(7).
Sensitivity(depends on site conditions)
Press Menu button on front panel to follow....
>Main Menu>Audio:
Volume- Volume(10),Gain(7).
Tone- Th.Tone(5), Variability(10max), Limits(10max).
Sounds- Conduct.
>Main Menu>Options:
Noise- Noise(11) lowered only when noise is present.
Response- Normal.
Recovery- Set on Fast or Deep depending on site conditions.
Now these settings are not set in stone but for now they seem to work great for for me so I go with'em.
Hope you get it all squared away.

.....that myself, I didn't check the link before clicking Post Message. On top of that I'm not sure how the findmall.com address got mixed in with it....? ?
Glad you like my site, thanks for checking it out. I just keep adding to it a little at a time and as long as Yahoo doesn't belly-up the page should be there for a while.

Ok, using your settings as a guide has helped quite a bit. The sounds are better but one thing I still notice that seems to go contrary to most others posting is that (with fast response) the sounds are greatly improved as well as a slight improvement in depth is to swing the coil relatively fast. When I slow down I have to move the coil closer to the target to pick it up...it seems to be the characterristic of my machine anyway. Actually, with other detectors I have owned the manual actually suggested this as long as it was EVEN swings and of course no lifting at the end of the swing. Pinpoint, however, should be slow. Anyway, as long as I'm getting good results I'll stick to the faster swing. But thanks to you and Jim from NY and other great people on this forum for all the advise and settings info. It's great to get good input from all the experts and then taylor it all to your own specific hunting methods and needs. -Dave
