Hello my friends!!
I gotta tell all of you.....It sure feels good to be getting back out there and swinging my machine again. Each time I go out, I feel a little bit stronger, allowing me to plug a little longer.
Got out a couple more times. Once to the beach, and another time to a park I haven't been back to since 2008. Managed to dig a toasty merc and a wheatie from low tide last Wednesday. A good friend and hunter joined me that day for a beach hunt. It was great being able to detect with my good buddy again!! Yesterday, I hunted the turf at a park that I remember was very stingy for silver a couple of years ago. I decided to go back there and give it one more try. Glad I made that decision. I started off with a couple of deep, chopped wheats, then found a silver ring at just a couple of inches. It gave off a silver dime/quarter signal. Shortly after, I got my first silver coin; a very oxidized '31 Merc at around 9". I knew it was silver before I dug it. I told my new hunting buddy to watch me dig this silver out of the ground. He was smiling when I held that white, oxidized coin in my hand. So was I. After that area of the park was drying up for me, I walked to the other corner, and found a hot pocket of oldies. I ended up finding 5 more silvers in this area and some wheats. The ground was bone dry, and the grass was the color of hay. I really got a workout. I also dug a lot of deep, high conductor trash objects. This area of the park was loaded with deep pieces of copper, brass, and iron doo-dads.
I'm thankful that the day wasn't very hot....there was a cool breeze and partly cloudy skies. On my first few hunts, I had to stop by lunch time from exhaustion and sore muscles, but on this hunt, after a lunch break, I was able to detect for a couple more hours. I'm feeling it in my muscles, but I should recover fine. I'm starting to get calluses in places I once had from repeated digging/detecting.
I hope it continues to stay cool along the coast this week, because I'll probably make one more return trip to this park to find maybe a few more!!
Thanks for checking out my finds, and I hope all of you keep the great finds and posts coming!!
