2 More Hunts, 7 More Silvers!! Getting Stronger!!

Hello my friends!!

I gotta tell all of you.....It sure feels good to be getting back out there and swinging my machine again. Each time I go out, I feel a little bit stronger, allowing me to plug a little longer. :detecting:

Got out a couple more times. Once to the beach, and another time to a park I haven't been back to since 2008. Managed to dig a toasty merc and a wheatie from low tide last Wednesday. A good friend and hunter joined me that day for a beach hunt. It was great being able to detect with my good buddy again!! Yesterday, I hunted the turf at a park that I remember was very stingy for silver a couple of years ago. I decided to go back there and give it one more try. Glad I made that decision. I started off with a couple of deep, chopped wheats, then found a silver ring at just a couple of inches. It gave off a silver dime/quarter signal. Shortly after, I got my first silver coin; a very oxidized '31 Merc at around 9". I knew it was silver before I dug it. I told my new hunting buddy to watch me dig this silver out of the ground. He was smiling when I held that white, oxidized coin in my hand. So was I. After that area of the park was drying up for me, I walked to the other corner, and found a hot pocket of oldies. I ended up finding 5 more silvers in this area and some wheats. The ground was bone dry, and the grass was the color of hay. I really got a workout. I also dug a lot of deep, high conductor trash objects. This area of the park was loaded with deep pieces of copper, brass, and iron doo-dads. :stars:

I'm thankful that the day wasn't very hot....there was a cool breeze and partly cloudy skies. On my first few hunts, I had to stop by lunch time from exhaustion and sore muscles, but on this hunt, after a lunch break, I was able to detect for a couple more hours. I'm feeling it in my muscles, but I should recover fine. I'm starting to get calluses in places I once had from repeated digging/detecting.

I hope it continues to stay cool along the coast this week, because I'll probably make one more return trip to this park to find maybe a few more!!

Thanks for checking out my finds, and I hope all of you keep the great finds and posts coming!!
Keep The Passion High!!

Great finds! what kind of place are you hunting where you get such DARK silver?! i've only dug one merc that was black like that, and it was from mud out of the bottom of lake they spread out onto the ground!

Weston

Silver coins will turn dark in land areas that are very wet and of course beaches. One guesses water and dampness causes this to happen...

combinations of these will cause silver to oxidize, Weston. I've dug deep silver that was as white as a ghost coming out of the ground, and within minutes of air exposure, it will turn purple, then eventually it will darken even more to black. I detect mostly at parks, and some parks are notorious for oxidized silvers in my area, while others, the silver comes out of the ground looking close to the day it was dropped. Go figure. :nerd:

Glad to hear that you are getting stronger Dan...:clapping:
and to see that you haven't lost that "silver touch"
that was your trademark before your bout with the
fibro. Keep getting stronger and keep posting those
great finds. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Nice pile of loot Captain. But you should really learn to pinpoint better, those two pennies in the middle are pretty nicked up. HA!
