2 Indians in one day with the ACE. My oldest coin to date; 1873.

:usaflag:Unless you want to let it soak in extra virgin olive oil for a couple of weeks I would just leave it be..

And I would check to see if that 1873 is the "closed 3" variety. It might be worth a little more than your average IH.

Very nice finds !

Congats on the IHs! I take a paper dixie cup, put about 1" of hydrogen peroxide in it, heat it in the microwave for a few seconds (until it's good & warm), then drop the pennies into it and let them set overnight. You'll want to flip them over or lean them against the sides of the cup.

WTG on those IH pennies. The last two times I tried to clean some old coins, I messed up. I was using worcestershire sauce and it made them feel rough to the touch and look pitted.

They look pretty decent, I wouldn't do anything to them that will ruin their numismatic value. I agree with McDave, olive oil or a light cleaning with soap and water should be the best.

A couple days ago I posted some pics of some Indian head pennies and a "v" nickel before and after being cleaned by electrolysis. They were extremely corroded and dirty, I wish they cleaned up as nice as yours already are! The post the pics are in is titled "need some help" and should be on page 2 in case you are curious. Good luck and nice finds.

Nice, How deep were they?

The pennies were only about an inch or two deep. The city is replacing old sidewalks in the historic part of town and so the grass between the sidewalk and the road have been turned over. Made it so easy that I thought it was a zinkin and almost didn't bother picking it up!
