2 hr city park hunt

Got out for 2 hours this morning in our oldest Pittsburgh city park. I can't get decent photos with my camera on the cents. Any suggestions on how to scan them. Anyway, hunting with the EX II and the 10X12 SEF coil I found a 1901 Queen Victoria Hong Kong cent, 1892, 1896 and 1904 Indians and 1917, 1918 and 1920 Lincolns. Oddly, no silver this time. The Victoria and the Indians were all at least 9" deep. The Indians did not have that coin sound at all. More just like a low pitch warble but they repeated from all sides. The smart screen showed them about where they should have been and had I not used the smart screen I probably would have passed them up. The soil in this park is very loamy and my guess is the heavier silver is waaay deep. This presents a kind of dilemma because using a larger coil in this park for greater depth would be difficult because of all the damn trash. Any suggestions for finding the deepies is appreciated. This park is right across the Allegheny River from downtown Pittsburgh and the area has been inhabited and used widely since the 1700's.

Have you tried using the macro mode for your camera? When it's in it's default mode it can not shoot closeups sharply.

Yeah, I have but the pennies just come out dark and you can't see detail or dates.

What resolution are you shooting at? It should be the highest and is the flash going off? May sound like a stupid question ...

I know if you scan them you could bump the resolution way up and you would definitely get detail but I personally am cautious about scanning them because you could be scratching the glass where the mechanism scans from if you do not put the coins on gently. I supposed you could do it, just put the coins gently on the glass I suppose.
