2 gold

stoofer

New member
I went out to the Great Salt Lake over the weekend & snagged to gold rings and one ugly 1875 seated dime. Too bad the salt really eats the silver. I was hunting an area where one of the first resorts was built in the1870's & burned down in around 1901. These 2 bring the total gold rings recovered out at the lake to 88!

Very nice dude! I love finding the old stuff like that. I've found a couple of beut's this year also. where are you located stoofer? I'm located in new york city.. good luck and i hope you find another hundred more rings!

I'm out here just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm heading out to the lake this weekend if the weather cooperates. Still looking for that elusive $20.00 gold piece. I did pick up a 1879 $2.50 gold piece made into a "love token" out there so I can't complain too much.

Ah! Salt lake city, beautiful place. I was out there for the sundance film festival, had a great time. A little cold but nice. By the way, thats a really nice love token. Last winter i found a seated dime love token in really nice condition (T4) in the woods not too far from my home. Not as nice as your $2.50 piece but not too shaby. I'm working on getting good digital camera so i can post some of the stuff i dig up. I'll post the love token and a couple of rings when i do. Happy diggin's and good luck this weekend. Ciao

I use both the Explorer XS and the II. I use the XS out at the lake and the II on dry ground. I really don't have a preference between the two. It's kind of a harsh enviroment out at the Lake with the salt, so I've make the XS my Lake machine and the II I save for dry ground.
