2 gold rings from the beach...One to keep...one is going home!

Two days after new years I was contacted by a couple from Atlanta about a ring, family heirloom, that was lost New Years night on the beach. It was lost between the beach area that they were sitting and the route taken from there to the hotel room. They had no idea when or were though. It was in a jacket pocket with some change that was being carried not worn. It was also lost on one of our biggest beaches with a large distance between the beach and the hotel. Talking to them on the phone while I was out there, I had a good idea were to look, and knowing there was also about a dollars worth of change lost with it, I thought it was going to be easy....NOT! Two times out there, nothing! Third time some change and a small, real small, 10k with stones, does not even fit my pinky; 2.2g.
This morning I finally hit an area that had some change(2 quarters,1 dime and a penny) that were scattered in a east/west direction about 3/4 the way up from the beach. Figuring I could be on to something I found the ring about ten minutes later. The ring is a vintage white gold,18k,15 diamond, Lambert bros; an exact match to the description given. It belonged to the husbands grandmother and given to his wife. When I called them this afternoon and said, "Hi,this is Bob in Florida, I got a slow kinda pausing" yeaaaa" and then nothing. So I just said, "Found it!".....Wish I had recorded the next minute of screaming and crying I heard. It's packaged up and on its way home already. Even though I don't ask for a reward, I was assured one is coming....GL ALL
* I was using the XT705 with a HF DD 5x10 elliptical coil.....the 10k was a 12tid/tone just like a pulltab and the 18k was a 4tid like foil.

Congratulations on the finds, the recovery, and the return Bob! :clapping:

There's nothing quite like the feeling of making someone's day.

Well done!

Money can't buy the feeling of returning something like that to it's rightful owner.

That is great. I could almost hear them screaming just reading your post.:clapping:

Great work Bob! Not only did you get satisfaction from returning the ring, you got a nice little 10k ring for yourself!

Way to go Bob! You made someone happy and proved yet again to be a great ambassador of our hobby.

WOW a 4 TID, I would never have expected that, I would have had that notched out expecting something a whole lot higher. Guys are always talking about 6's too, I make a big joke about digging 6 when we hunt, it's always foil in my case.

Way to go on the return , every time we leave someone with a good impression of our hobbie we are helping to secure it for the future !!

good job on finding the rings.

Wow huge congrats for your good deed... a lot of good karma coming your way! That ring is beautiful... I'd have been devastated to lose a heirloom like that...

Wow, what a great story. I guess that goes to show you, just like Digger says, you never know until you dig it!

Thanks all...I've posted a "search and recovery," Not for profit, Just a hobby, ad on CL for several years. I live minutes from the beach and offer land and water recovery's. I do it because I can, and really do enjoy helping others in such situations. Most of the time it's just handshakes, high fives, and tears of happiness. The most money I ever received until yesterday was $40.00 for a class ring that I found water hunting. It took a month to find him in Nashville. I've also received a Bonsai plant that is still alive, a letter saying a $100.00 dollar donation was made in my name to a local animal shelter, a box of sunblock and a plate of homemade brownies. All, reward or not, are great memories.
This check just floored me, and at their insistence I will accept it. I think I'm going to put it towards a new Excalibur II this summer.

That is a really nice reward. Enjoy that future Excalibur.
