2 Explorer Questions ??

Maybe a seasoned Explorer user will know this 1st one:
1. How long will the pinpoint button last? In other words - anyone ever worn one out?
2. I hear (and feel) a slight "creaking" noise in the handle area on every swing. I think it's the armcup moving slightly on the handle, but it could be movement along the handle seam(s) or something else. I think everything it tight and as it should be. Anyone else have this annoyance?

I've haven't heard of any problems with the pinpoint button. I feel that would be one of the last things I would worry about. As far as the creaking noise, make sure the coil bolt is tight. I'm 6-3 and have the lower rod at its max length and I know it makes alittle more noise then if its up farther. I'm working on making a longer lower shaft for mine, just need to purchase another one and cut it and weld it to another one:)

after a year and a half my explorer crapped out.the repair center in Vegas changed the face plate(the push button membrane) to correct my problem.the repair ticket claimed it was the pinpoint button that was the problem...Ralph

Make sure your upper shaft is seated fully into the slot under the control housing. When I first got mine I didn't have it seated all the way in, and I could feel the shaft wobble--suspect this might have something to do with some of the cracking problems mentioned occasionally.

Yes, I get the "creaking" noise on one of my Explorers.......My opinion, This occurs at maximum rod extension and with the bigger coils. I think it is the flex of the plastic. Especially if the upper rod is not fully seated into the control box. But, DO NOT DESPAIR AND DO NOT WORRY if you have no hairline cracks.
You can tighten your rods by placing one lap of electric tape to the rod joints and where it enters the control box if need be ! <IMG SRC="/forums/images/flag.jpg" BORDER=0 ALT="USA">
