2 diamond rings - Possibly my best single day!

I have not been posting here lately. I have limited myself to one site to post but I had to share this one with everyone.

I went to the beach Saturday afternoon to cool off. It was hot in the house and I just wanted to get away from it.

I got to the crowded beach around 2:30 and hunted one area that just produced coins and a thin silver ring (It was hallmarked 786, a first for me).

A small rain storm passed and people left the water. I guess they were afraid of getting wet. So, I moved to the busy part of the swim area. I was soon joined by curious kids but I managed to hear a nice tone and out pops the solitaire. They were amazed and witnessed my jaw dropping as I read that it was 14 Karat white gold. There was also a diamond symbol and a serial number etched into the ring. A good sign that it is genuine.

After I calmed down, I again started searching the area. I turned around and went a little deeper and 15 minutes later out pops the cocktail ring. 18 Karat white gold with 24 round diamonds 22 Baguettes and a round diamond in the middle. I was in shock and everyone wanted to see it.

I showed the kids and their (until then) skeptical parents and then cleared out. That was enough for today I told myself. I will remember this one for a long time.....

(Tester says they are all real.)

I am glad to hear that the ice turned out to be the real deal. Great looking rings! I liked them on treasure quest and I like them just as much on the forum.

Cheers Mate,

That 18K is incredibly beautiful!!! NICE finds!!! Personally, I wouldn't have shown that to anybody :) Next thing you know somebody is saying, "Oh, I'm so happy you found my ring!" I can't wait to hear what the appraisal is on that puppy! WOW! Congrats!

i would be careful showing people like that in the water though.
all it takes is one person to go to the nearest lifeguard and cause problems for ya. i have had it happen to me years ago. i didn't even show them they just happened to catch a quick glimpse as i was pulling it out of the scoop. the girl yells to the lifeguard. HE has my RING!! the lifeguard said you better not have her ring & if you do to give it back. since she couldn't describe it, the lifeguard left me alone. now when i find a ring, you will never know it as will anyone else.

just my opinion

I have to agree with the others I would try not to show a find like that to any one that could decide they want to claim it as there's. If for no other reason to save yourself any hassle. Congrats. on the find and I hope they are all real. HH

Great finds. I would be cautious of showing others though.

Are you in PR. If so where?

It is really good to see loot from you again and it is exquisite loot, at that! I would never recommend showing your finds to anyone at the beach. I has caused problems of all kinds to more that one pirate out there and would hate to see you experience the same fate. One of those people could say they lost the ring and you found it and would not give it back to them and it could be taken from you by the authorities. I have faith in my God, but not so much in my fellow man! I have more faith in my pirate mates, than my fellow man! If you would like to further discuss this, send me a PM or comment here.GH

Very nice indeed, but as others have said, keep them quiet till you get home, mine go straight into a zipped pocket without even looking at them.

Well done

As others have said, keep the good stuff to yourself unless you're looking for something specific for someone.

Fwiw - I rarely even take the time to look closely at something I find unless I know for a fact there's nobody around. I put the crap finds and clad in one part of my pouch, and the potentially good stuff in a small zippered side pocket where I also keep my car key.

When people ask me if I've found anything good, my pat answers fall along the line of:

"They ought to be paying me to clean the beach for them with all the pop tops, aluminum and junk I'm finding"

"Just a small handfull of change"

"Not enough to retire on today" (which usually gets a chuckle).
