Back at the beach with the Seahunter Mk II.
Great weather in the morning, so got a few hours in before the heavy rain arrived.
Seven rings - including what looks like a small diamond.
Around the equivalent of US$10 in coins.
Also a two carrot rabbit pendant!
If you remember a previous a post of mine with a pic of all the trash at the beach following a typhoon, then this one may be more pleasing to the eyes. The beach is actually getting cleaner each time I go there. Sometimes see volunteers trying their best to clean up the surface trash the tides usually bring. I also average about a bucket full of various metal and add any broken glass (lots) too.
Have been using Standard Trash Elimination (rather than Discrete Trash Elimination) more recently and just dig everything. My theory being that chances are there aren't going to be many (or any!) other people detecting so there is no rush and a major beach clean, on and in, is also certainly well overdue.
Do have one problem area of the beach where other detectors (non- PI) may shine though - the very top of the beach above the walkway (notice in the pic it is covered by sand at this time) has lots and lots of nails and screws from the temporary shops/changing rooms constructed each summer. Many of the nails are on or just below the surface - probably thousands of them! So, my idea is to make a long bar with some powerful magnets attached and just drag it around (or, even better, ask the kids to do it while I follow
Maybe a bit off-topic (or, for want of a better name, how about we call it a 'Garrett PI detector user's mass nail puller Trash Extraction Mode helper prototype thingy'?), but has anyone made or tried anything similar?
