2/21 After Lunch Hunt W/ Horse

Got a call from Max and headed to the "bean patch". No luck, so we headed to a field where they are going to build a park in Chesapeake. Things were slow. Did manage one silver dime. We knocked off about 2:00, so decided to hit Cradock till supper time. Boy was that the right decision. Found everything else in Cradock. Wound up with three silver dimes and a sterling silver ring. Also found a copper horse, guess it was discarded because it didn't have a tail. I almost didn't dig it because the signal was so strong and I thought it was another beer can. When I saw the curves, I dug it out of curiosity. All in all it turned out to be a nice day hunting. The Classic SL with Mr. Bill's mod came through for me again.

Thanks and I love your Avatar. I have that same picture of the Iowa on my wall. I was impressed with the broadside pushing a ship that large sideways in the water.

Thanks Hollis, I have had a long time love for the BB series of battleships, especially the USS Iowa. I used to be "big" in RC cars, boats, and planes and actually started a 1/100 scale, (about 10 feet) RC Iowa that never got finished. I got too involved in detecting and the RC stuff was sold last year on Ebay, including the running gear for the Iowa.

For those who don't know, each of the 9 guns shoots a 2,000 lb shell almost 20 miles with extreme accuracy. Although it pushes the ship side ways, it does not list the ship.

I was fortunate enough to have been working on it in the shipyard during it's conversion, prior to it's decommissioning. To put in in perspective it was equal to launching a Volkswagen 20 miles. They were sure an impressive ship with unbelievable fire power.
