...you are finding the same things the rest of us LOW-DISC folks are finding. You have tuned your ear through no little effort and I'd say you are anything but casual about this.
It appears that it may in part be the detector, especially since the GB-2 is excellent at finding small targets, things like itsy gold bits and, yes Pete, chains to some degree.
It also has much to do with your choice of sites and where you live:
playgrounds,
scraped yards,
sports parks
and campgrounds...Seasonally heavy or constant usage sites.
Too, if you live in a small, dirt-poor working class town you are offered reduced opportunites as opposed to residing in, say, Cocoa Beach FL.
Not impossible, but the odds arent in your favor. So,
Where you take your detector is equally important as which one you are taking.
But, let me make sure I understand and tell me if Im wrong here: You ignore the iron trash and avoid that like the plague. Everything else from low foil through coin range (the low-to-high midrange) is investigated. As you noted, your trash pics indicate that you dont leave much behind within this range, either!
What is your philosophy on trash? That may help us to understand your game, too.
(I especially like to see equal time given to the trash others recover, by the way - thanks for that dose of reality.)
Also, in 2.5 years, how much time have you devoted to detecting...
Daily
Weekly
Monthly, etc.
The answers may surpise some of us.
In the end, your GB-2 is well learned, you clean out your well chosen sites with a keen detector you've learned thoroughly. I tip my hat to you. Is that about right?
Whenever someone comes on and dazzles us with a display like yours (AND IT IS DAZZLING!), we tend to start questioning our own choices and start reaching for our checkbooks. SO before anyone does that, would you offer your input on this:
Is that superb GB-2 a magic stick for gold?
Or is it that maybe it's a bit more suited, particularaly on the fine, near impossible chains. However, there is a common denominator that ends up being a trade off - - TRASH.
I suspect that if any and all of us owning sensitive detectors with good iron DISC, which possess nothing but "beep and dig" options (take note Pete) were to develop a "trash leads to treasure" mindset...well, if we worked as hard as you do, we'd approach your levels, as well.
What do you think?
