Since I got my 705 last spring the lake near my home in Northern California has kept high water levels because it is the drinking supply for the downstream counties. Fortunately its primary purpose is flood control so in anticipation of last weeks storms the lake was lowered by approximately 30 feet exposing the swimming area to an excited 705 owner who had been waiting for the day. Fortunately for me the storm did not arrive so when the 60 degree weather hit Monday I jumped at the chance to swing "Mr. 705" a bit. I found that the area I was checking must never had been done before because I found most the pull tabs the 1970's produced. This was also my first time I vowed to "dig them all" as I was working in the AM mode. Had been there about an hour and was starting to think my theory about the place being ripe for the picking was wrong I had not even found a coin yet. Then I saw a pretty "6" TID which was not a common signal I see since I am usually only coin shooting. I was excited that it was not an "18" since that seemed to be the pull tab TID of the day. Out popped my first white gold and diamonds combo. It was this 3.3 gram 10k cross containing 5 tiny diamonds. Originally I assumed it was costume but it is clearly hallmarked 10k and I later used a diamond tester to confirm that they are the smallest diamonds on earth but real!!!!!!!! I went another 10 minutes when I found my first yellow gold, TID 8. It is this 0.8 gram 10k hallmarked small gold ring. I almost started expecting to get a TID indicating gold every few minutes at that point. The remaining two hours only yielded a few coins, and costume jewelry ring and two worthless earrings. I had a great day and as retirement nears in November I see that I choose the right hobby to spend my afternoons.
