1st Tot Lot Hunt

School's out so thought I would swing over the playground. Kept this spot in the back of mind for a long time waiting for an evening when no kids or mommies w/kids were there. Back in the day the area was all dirt but in the last ten years it was covered up with wood chips then a layer of tire grind was added over that later. Never searched in tire grind before, kinda fun. Thought that I wouldn't need the knee pads - wrong! Found about a $1.29 in clad change( a nice 1959d memorial cent), some fishing weights, a few zippers and a couple of kid's rings. My heart skipped a beat when the gold one popped out of the decayed wood chips. Turned out to be a base metal ring w/gold plate thats quite worn. The discolored change was found pounded into the dirt under the swings. Most of the rest was laying under the tire grind but on top of the wood chips. I'm sold on tot lots, gonna check out a few more soon.
