1st time out with X-8= Questions

Just a couple of questions and observations regarding X-8 coil. My settings were I/M -8, deep mode, gain at 6, sens 24-32....
Depth meter... with stock coil I always dug everything at/over 6 inches, that seems to be difficult with X-8 , depth meter seems to be off a great deal.
Found clad at 3 inches depth meter showed half way, sound was a bit soft, not like stock seeing coin at 3, and sound pretty loud. I assumed it was deeper, little disapointed to see 1991 dime in hole
Any suggestions to remedy ? and get better grasp on depth. Is a six in depth, on meter, equal to 3 inches with this coil
2) Overall I seemed to get no depth, dug Injun at 5, I may have been swinging bit fast, tried to slow down, but area was not very trashy so it was hard to go that slow. Do you need to go super slow with this coil ?
Stability with high sensitivity... I really do not know if this is good or bad, but was able to crank sens to 32 and machine was very stable, as matter of fact at any sens level machine was stable. I got very few signals or complete nulls as I typically do with stock. I thought this was strange especially hunting in I/M as sounds are more frequent ( yes probe was in coil position), pretty sure I did not go over 5 inches on any target tonight, how are you getting the 8 plus inches that are posted
Tried a mix of heavy trash and deep iron trash and clean areas
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated

better off going by audio volume.. set the X8 one notch higher than you run the 10 gain at and depth volume will be fairly close to each other..

Joe, I'm glad you asked those Questions. I just got my X-8 Fridy and had the same problems. I found a mercury dime at 4" but the depth gauge said it was down 8". When I switched to pin point it sounded vary deep, it had a vary week signal. I hope some of the experts on here can give us some more help with this problem. Jerry
