1st time out found beutifull just boarded up old house , yard still intact but i soon found myself like the tower of bable builders who could not understand eachothers languge i I was use to speeking fluent musketeer and all the sudden a GT is talking to me and i could not understand i could not locate the targets i had to sut it down and like the bable builders it never got built , suffice to say i will have to take some time to learn this new languge love the machine thuo it is very litewondefully balanced and i did air test a dime at 11"and it was not maxed out on sensitivity more later Gunnar MN

Gunnar, use only the Sovereign which is the only way to learn this detector.Do this for three weeks and you will start to understand. Good Luck Ron

Ron i will do that , and by the way , in all metal can you tell the diffrence between Iron and a coin ?

for me the GT is deeper in discrimination than all metal. The opposite of my Excalibur. Unless you are hunting for iron relics I see no need to be in all metal unless you are pinpointing. I set mine in discrimination mode and turn the discrimination dial all the way down. I use a meter that loses reliability on very deep targets. But on average hits the meter is awesome.

Hey Gunnarmn can you tone down the Font it becomes irritating to try and read you post with giant letters in bold face.

After reading your post I thought this would be more appropriate as a reply to yours than a new post. I just wanted to get used to the different tones, so I went out in the yard just swinging the beast. Man, this sucker weighs 2x as much as the V3i. (Some people have recommended a straight shaft or the hip mount).

I was surprised at the changing threshold. I noticed different tones for coins and mid-range targets.

How many tones are there on the Excalibur 1000?
