1st time out with my Goldquest

Craig

New member
Took my Goldquest to the Beach for the 1st time. Have to say I was impressed with how deep it goes! I think I'll have to look into taking a Backhoe with me next time.
I have too get use to pin pointing with this detector. I think I was starting to get the hang of it by the time I was finishing up for the day.
My total fines was .39 cents hand full of bottle caps, bobby pins, etc.., but no gold or silver:rolleyes:, but I know it will be coming soon!

i had one for a short spell

it would find fish hooks and sunglasses 15 to 18 scoops deep

after this dig i cut her loose

Congrats on your new detector... If you learn your machine you will do great with it ...

learned how to operate your PI.

Digging a hole that deep is just fruital. You should have been able to size a long object like that, at least after a couple of scoops. Like I said, you just never learned how to use your PI.

what about the sunglasses and fish hooks 15 scoops deep.....................with this powerful PI they all sound the same

that from point a on the beach to point b would usually take me 3 hours with my excal, but the PI and junk here that a to b was 5 to 6 hours and one extra trash pouch. my hunting buddy could hunt a complete circle around me and have like 3 or 4 rings and i might find one or two, if i were able to dig them 2ft deep.

I have learned what iron sounds like with my PI PRO... I have learned to use both my PI and Excalibur as they both have a place in my arsenol... I have heard that your beaches are loaded with little bits of lobster traps and wire but please don't assume that every beach is like yours...

There are PI users out there that love their machines me included....

Iron has a long drawn out wow type sound, fish hooks are a scratchy broken signal as is a nail or piece of wire.. its really easy to figure an iron target with a PI if you give yourself the time to learn it. Maybe you did or maybe you didn't. :)

My next machine will be a deeper PI, I'll call Mr.Bill and ask him for idea's as I like and repect him very much...

I will say this about it, most do learn the PI with usage like you would any detector, some never do. Perhaps your in the latter group ?? PI detectors excell in salt water detecting, plus they find gold jewelry where no discriminating detector can hear it.

You should have been able to tell sun glasses for the most part, by there elongated signal, not all but most.

I think you were a little confused when you purchased your PI or misinformed, because they are not detectors designed for every / all beach hunting conditions. You tried to make it a do all unit. By the photo's I have seen you post, you have a good share of iron, bobby pins, sun glasses still with the unit you replaced your PI with.

Your detecting buddy.

digging all that junk.

i knew my beach area was junky, everyone told me i would not like the PI, but i am kinda hard headed and lot to find things out for myself.............so i purchased this eric foster PI.............i did and now i am out of the PI business.

i have not dug any bobby pins that i can recall this year - sunglasses..................yes and a lot of them they sound good, but i have not dug any deeper than 4 or 5 scoops. the eric foster PI that Craig just got is not like the PI Pros that most use..................not even close..................those who have owned a goldquest know what i am talking about...............it is in a realm of its own.

in waist deep water that bad boy will go even deeper..................i had no clue that sunglasses and alike would even go 14 to 15 scoops deep......................u can not dig a 14 scoop hole in 2 mins. either.

time......................valuable time wasted digging giant deep holes for what

no thank u in va beach

but i will say.........................given the right area - they are the ticket for sure.

I would tend to agree with Max on this point. The GQA2 had similar tones between all targets, although the non-ferrous items were clearer and sharper. I spent a year running the unit and miss it here, but I sure don't miss finding the junk. The double beeps were not nearly so evident, as I would have expected. I am enjoying the vaction, without it and quite possibly have done better without it, simply by being able to cover more water, although I may have missed some deepies out there. I guess I will never know. May get another PI someday, but for now I am enjoying the Excal and am looking forward to running the CZ21, when released. I intend to run it in the same durf areas that I was using the PI in, with all-metal. Perhaps it will work well in that application. We'll see.
