I had the chance to take my new DeLeon out for the 1st time yesterday ( Sat). I went 1st to a spot that I always find coins at to just see what I could do. I found about a $1.25 in clad so I was happy. Next I went to an old site to try some relic hunting. I found an old Lipstick tupe and some numbers off of a car I think?
My 1st impressions of this sweet unit. It is very easy to use. If the graph and the number lock on it is very accurate. It hits pretty deep and pinpoints easy. I think i am gonna really like it.
Beale, looks like you had a nice first time out with the new Deleon. I'm thinking of getting either a Cortes or a Deleon by spring and am very interested in reading all i can find here about both detectors. I like the sum mode on the Cortes and the larger screen on the Deleon, but it seems performance is about the same on both machines. I have a Silver Umax and love hunting with it, but would really like to have a target ID Tesoro detector. I owned other ID machines by Garrett and Fisher but they got heavy after hunting a couple of hours
especially with larger coils. My Silver Umax is light as a feather and hunting all day with it isn't a problem, so i know either the Cortes or Deleon would be just what i want. I'm looking forward to reading your posts about the Deleon and your thoughts on it. good hunting........Roger
beale, does the deleon seem to be deeper than the other tesoro detectors you have used? i was curious how much deeper it might be than say my silver umax with the 8 inch coil.
thanks and happy hunting................roger
Beale, I managed to get out for about a hour or so with my new Deleon before the snow and cold showed up, and I like it too. I ran across an odd signal with many bars going up and down. I wasn't sure on what to do but because the sound was so good, I decided to dig.
To my surprise it was a small cache of 7 coins. 2 quarters, 1 nickle, 1 dime and 3 pennies. That explained the multiple bars.
I now can't wait until spring to spend more time on it and try the other 2 coils I got with it.
It's all what you want, the Tejon is DEEEEEEP, the Vaquero is good all around. I have been thinking about a Delon as well, just haven't made my mind up yet. I love Tesoro no matter what detector it is. Yes I had the $1000 monster of another brand, but Tesoro's are serious and fun detectors without the bragging of how much you paid. Have fun with that Delon and keep us updated, I have been reading all of your post, thank you!
Hi Beale, I'm glad you like the DeLeon: You're right about the ID and the pinpointing...the DeLeon is terrific. I still reckon it is my best detector for identifying iron...it takes a while and a bit of digging to really cotton on to what this machine is telling you, but once you do know, you'll never look back. Good Luck with it.
