My Etrac came late yesterday and I put it together and put the battery on the charger. This morning I read a little of Andy's book and figured out how to turn it on make it work. This afternoon was 28 degrees and snowing. I just could not wait. I went hunting.
I know. I should have done air tests of various coins and at least turned it on once before I took it out. But no. Not me...
So there I am standing out in a field with the snow flying and my screen encased in a big plastic bag to protect it from the snow. I turned it on for the first time. It took me a while to figure out how to set the coin program. From Andy's book I recalled something about setting "deep" to on. I finally made that happen and I started to swing. I cannot even see the screen.
First coin was a clad quarter. The second coin made a real nice singing high tone. Huh. I dug a deep plug and turned it over. There, staring at me at the bottom of a 7" hole was a silver coin with a moose on it staring up at me!!! It was a Canadian 1952 King George. This is only the second silver quarter I have ever found in my life. Me and Etrac. We got us a thing going on!
