New member
after getting thru boot camp with the Soveregn GT i finally got out to the park for a hunt and was much more comfortable with the machine i dug lots of trash just to confirm that it was what i thought it was in ground and id really well bottle tops and pul tabs are very recognizable and foil and of course the coins even in all metal gave a high tone i was using the 15'' WOT and it did well even in moderate trash but it really shone in the ball field i was able to recognize nails can slaw, and coins the two dimes were out in the nice grass of a baseball diamond and i had to do the slit and pry and still had to dig down but i had a small plate to put the dirt on and after finding them i put in some grass to fertilize and closed up the slit and looked like i was not thear found a big chunk of lead that good , I had problems with the pistol probe , it was causeing the detector to false so bad i had to turn it off but i found out later move the coil forward not to the side but she is working good now i just need to get to a real spot instead of the farm field also you can see the latest finds from the farm field a round 50 cal slug and a 30 cal slug copper jacket and some kind of pin from farm equipment

Nice work.

Nice finds Gunnar! Yes, I had the pistolprobe and it drove my detector nuts no matter what I did. So, my brother received an early birthday present. I am just starting to read about all-metal hunting with the GT in that book you recommended "Finding Gold, Silver and Coins" by Clive James Clynick. This guy is a wizard with sovereigns and has some proven ideas that I am going to try out. If someone out there hasn't read this book, it is well worth the $$. Basically CJC is a surgeon with a sovereign.

earthlypotluck, do try the all metal it is wure better at pinponting , what i have been doing in the farm field is hunting in pinpont to get best depth , and then check in disq and if it rings like abell i switch back to reg all metal and pinpont and that has served me well but coins are easy to tell in all metal you get a high tone and a rounded sound nails get eratic sounding watever works for you it must be working looka at all the cool stuf you are finding and the book is nice clive has so much experiance he better know .

Well said....Clive is an artist isn't he. That book is one of if not the best investments you can make, as far as using and learning to use your Sovereign GT.
I have that book bought it the day I got my GT. I have read so many times the cover came off of it.
I have several copies of it one is lost for ever in the Motor Home.
