1st silver for the year

This morning it was colder than a well diggers behind and the wind just cut right thru me but I wanted to try my new 10" DD Excelerator coil. I went to a play ground but I did do very well with the 10" as I normally would have done with my smaller 6" DD Excelerator, just to trashy. I left and went to a ball field which was not very trashy. The 10" did a lot better when trash was not an issue. I only hunted for a short time because I was cold and tired of the wind. After recovering some clad I decided to leave and was swinging my coil as I walked back to my truck. I was only a few steps from my truck when I got a loud signal and I got a VDI reading of 80. The depth reading on my MXT indicated the target to be at 3". I dug down 3 inches and recovered a 1941 Mercury dime. I don't get a lot of silver coins so I was pretty excited and for a moment I forgot the cold. I can't wait for some warmer weather and see how good the 10" DD really is, but so far its doing pretty good. HH Dennis in Idaho

Boy are you lucky, and only 3". Rob

It was a lucky find I agree. It just goes to show that not all silver is deep. HH Dennis in Idaho

Sometimes better to be lucky than good .Nice find still think it was the coil i hope you get a better chance to try it out,It seems to work pretty good in trash not extreme trash i have some spot here like that.I have to set discrimination up high, but going slow with it it will pull some coins that are hidden good luck

Gripe, Gripe, Gripe :lmfao: You think you'd be used to it by now. You should try hunting down here, where it's 75 and the skeeters getcha.

Nice silver my Friend

Very nice piece of silver. And a Mercury to boot. Congrats and thanks for the picture and story. HH to all, Nancy
