Recently got a Fisher F2. Found my first silver today! Heading back tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad. I'm hooked!

I have about 60 of those. A thrill every time. Actually, any silver is a thrill. Wait till you find your first gold ring.

Nice Merc there! congrats! I remember some of my first finds with my trusty Coinmaster detector. What a thrill it was to find coins....period!!! let alone silver finds and then finally gold finds!!! Almost as addictive as cocaine!!! GL&HH!!!!

Thats a beauty! Real nice age to it, patina, and in good shape..go get some more! How did you get it out of the ground!
Mud

Screwdriver. The F2 has been pin pointing dead on with coins. I'm not really going after hits deeper than 3 " due to the ground being froze. I drive the screwdriver down past where I think the coin will be in a 2" diameter circle around the target, then pop out the plug.

Nice find on your first fishing trip!

Congratulations, it took me around 6 months to find my first silver, then the flood gates opened.

It was also a Merc, a 44 i think.

This seems to be a common first.

You got the bug now.

Congrats!!

That's a great feeling. Funny my first silver was a 43 Merc too.

HH!

Buzz,
If you can cut a plug through that first 3" the ground should be nice and soft below that. I am having more of a problem finding anything in that top layer. I cant get the plug apart to see it.I too have used a screwdriver for more than 40 years. Just recently started cutting plugs. I was in a local park with a friend and his wife, we were find a few coins and 45-70 shells when his wife popped a $10 gold piece out of the ground. Unfortunately, she put a nice scratch right across the face. I dont want to finally find my key date coin and do the same.

Congratulations on the Silver. Keep working that property. I found my first silver,1939 quarter, within the first two weeks of starting detecting. I thought that I had thoroughly worked the property and only went back because I didn't have anything else to do and found another silver,1911 Barber Dime, along with three more Wheaties and a couple of dollars in clad. It is far too easy to miss a good target on the first or second pass thru an area.

beuty coin thear, that must have been mind blowing to see that come out

Congrats on your first silver ! Yes, you are now hooked. It is a great addiction to have. Good luck on future hunts.

beautiful coin, I'm envious of those merc dimes, never found one yet!
