1st silver coin of the year

Third time Ive been out this year. First two times all i found was a corroded Indian head penny and the date wasn't visible. I was hunting in the woods in an area that I have hunted hard . I was using the Vaquero with stock coil in all metal mode , listening for any signal at all. When I got a signal i'd switch to disc and if it was repeatable at minimum disc I dug it. There was a soft signal in all metal and it sounded soft in disc. As i thumbed it up , it got quieter. Silver dimes do that a lot on my machine and thats what i was thinking. Four to five inches down comes a 1944 mercury. a few minutes later I got a signal that sounded like a nickle.Four to five inches down comes a coin the same diameter as a nickle but much thinner. Its so corroded that there is no detail on it. I dont know what it is. Its about the same thickness as a dime . Very strange , I thought maybe a two cent piece .

Nice going on the Mercury Dime!

A mercury dime fresh from the ground would make my day, nice find !

Nice going, hopefully you can get some detail on the other coin after some soaking to try and find out what she is!

I think its a lost cause. I cant imagine it being a nickle because it is the same thickness as a dime.

Thats nice , i would just love to unearth one of those , and yet it evades me

Excellent find hatpin. I have pulled silver dimes out of the ground with my Compadre, but they have all been Rosies. I still am on the hunt for my 1st merc. Hopefully I have time to do some research and find some this year. Hope you find some more out there. HH.

Great dig Hatpin. I am thinking with the weather here I am only a week or two from getting out again.
