1st problem with my ctx

Turned on my ctx this morning and all I got was a message saying "usb connected". Tried a factory reset, didn't work. It always jumped back to usb connected. Check all the connections, nothing wrong. Switched to my 6" in coil and had the same problem. Anyone have any idea what's going on before I contact Minelab on Monday? Thanks Rich

Check under the cap where the USB connects and see if there is some kind of problem. I myself have not heard of a problem like yours. Give Minelab a call and let us know in case someone else has a problem like yours. Thanks for posting.

Try plugging in a USB cable and then removing it.

Weird, but yesterday, Saturday, my hunting buddy's CTX did the exact same thing. After 3 hours of hunting it suddenly flicked on USB connected, and would not go away., Powered it off and on, did a reset, unplugged the battery, unplugged the connections, nothing worked. He was going to try to hook it up via USB to the PC to see if it changed

I did the same thing. Just checked my usb connection and it looks like it may have leaked. :(

You have to call Minelab to get an RMA# to send it in. They have to replace your control module. Same thing happened to mine but it had NEVER been wet, so stop thinking that is your problem.

Remove the battery overnight, then reinstall and check it. If it still does it, contact minelab for an rma.

hi Guys - I have a CTX and found that if a slight amount of moisture enters the USB cap, this can occur. If it really has been a big leak or if corrosion evident, send it to minelab - HOWEVER - I found that behind the USB plug is totally sealed, so water is generally unlikely to get into the control box. The water / moisture is in the USB connector. I used a hairdryer for a few minutes on low heat (so not to melt anything) - and .....ALL GOOD. Then used silicone grease that won't damage plastic to seal the USB connector again. Try the hair dryer method and PM me if it works :)

Hair dryer worked ! Seems to be working fine right now. Will post again after my next time out, Many thanks dmnz and all who replied. I sure appreciate all your ideas and comments. Best of luck to all.
