1st outing with CTX

New member
Took the new CTX out for the first time this morning. Purposely went to a small area that I pounded with the E-Trac (found 48 wheats, one buffalo, and 13 silver dimes) so I could see if the CTX would find anything the E-Trac missed. I mostly used the stock coin program, but also tried the Gone Hunting program also. Since I'd already worked this area pretty hard I didn't expect to find much and wasn't disappointed. Found 3 zinc cents, 7 memorial cents, 1 clad dime, a 1941D nickel, an arcade token, and a tax token. Also found a couple of large rusty nails, lots of pull tabs and aluminum twist caps, two small washers, a key, and a couple of smashed toy cars. Even though I didn't find much that was very exciting I did learn a lot about the CTX that will help down the road. The Gone Hunting program is going to take some getting used to; all the audio output is a bit overwhelming (at this site at least - not so much iron, but a lot of aluminum in the form or foil, pull tabs, twist caps and can slaw. Can't wait to get back out and give it another try.

That's why we say to build your own program for your own site. Gonehuntings might work well for him in Oklahoma, but not in California or Georgia. Learn your machine.

Gone Hunting is in Oklahoma -- me too. Soil conditions vary drastically in Oklahoma depending on what part of the state you are in. Thanks for the advice about building programs to match you site.
