1st Outing with AT Gold

MDO

New member
My AT Gold arrived yesterday. I'm a newbie so I rushed home from work trying to get home before dark and took my AT Gold out to the front yard right with flashlight and Pro Pointer. Ground balanced and put in the all metal mode.. 1st find was a nail, then a staple, then something that looks like a grommet or ??? and then I hit money, my first nickel. Next came a penny and then I got a real strong signal, I believe in the 80s... 8" down.... GOLD...I dug and dug and the Pro pointer was saying it was in my hand and I couldn't see it. Well, it looks like some kind of gold colored foil!!

I live just off Plank Road in Chancellorsville, VA...home of one of the bigger Civil War battles... No telling what I might find.... Now I need to get permission to MD on the 90+ acres behind my house!!

It loves nickels......most won't do the classic air test VDI of 53 though, if deep and wet, they will jump all over the place up to the low 60's with a lot of 53's thrown in the sequence about every third or fourth number being a 53..... my play on this if one keeps digging for nickels eventually one will be GOLD

I agree quarter horse that 10 k I hit was a nice surprise after hunting for 6 hrs straight and poping about 12 nickels the next one was that class ring always nice to see that glitter of gold MDO good luck you are setting in a great area to dig up a important part of our history hope your finds are many. HH.
