I tried the geo hunt today for the first time and boy if you think you did a good job hunting an area take a look at where you've been and what you missed LOL, I was shocked at how much I missed , then after a while it dawned on me that the target trace and the pinpoint trace were not working which I have grown dependent on for I D ing the targets, I am using gone huntings combined ferrous coin program, the other draw back is if you have a large area to hunt and you want to quit the hunt for another day you have to start a whole new Geo hunt the next time and cannot go back to the first one and continue where you left off so that you can see where you hunted and what you missed on one screen unless I'm missing something and some one out there knows how to do this.
It was an interesting day and I learned some more about the ctx.:usaflag:

I e-mailed Minelab about this issue and here's what they responded with:

unfortunately you can

There is one thing I do, especially when hunting with a grid pattern. At the 4 corners of the grid create a WP. Once you have those, you can store them for a future date, put them into the CTX, and then go back out to the site and "carry on". It has come in very handy for farm field type hunting for me. I have also done a "print screen" of the geohunt tracking while XChange2. I have then saved that as a jpg and then overlaid it onto the image of the area in GoogleEarth........Then with landmarks etc on GoogleEarth image, you can go to the field and get oriented with the picture in hand and continue your detecting. Here is an example using overlays in Google Earth:

I attached the incorrect picture above. That is a screen shot captured in XChange2. Here is an overlay of the race rack onto Google Earth with the Finds overlaid on top of that. That is why it is not real sharp......I wanted to see how the track laid, and then decided to see how my finds corresponded to the track.........

yes I like being able to do that on the computer at home I just would like to be able to also see it on the machine while I'm hunting a large area over several days, instead of starting a new Geo hunt at the last stop I would like to load the hunt on the machine and continue the Geo hunt instead of starting a new one oh well maybe it will be an update in the future LOL.

Lot of great info CR.

that's an idea I never thought of doing using 4 way points to outline the hunting area and I guess doing a picture at home will help once back out to the hunt area, thanks I will give that a try on the next hunt
