1st. Hunt....Colonial Stagecoach stop :detecting:

The weather is great here now in New England.....snow's gone & in the 50's. After helping my brother move Sunday, I had a few hours to kill at an old 1700's stagecoach stop not far from home. It's produced large cents & shoe buckles in the past & I always find stuff everytime I go 'cause there's so much iron to pluck through.....a couple hundred years worth in fact.
Here's one of the foundations at the site.....

My plan was to get into the iron loaded areas & pull out some big junk to hopefully unmask some small goodies....
Here's some of the big iron relics I was diggin out like this hoe.....the ornate cover on it is actually pewter & was mixed in with all the iron so I kept it. Could be an early relic...

I dug out lots of ox shoes, saw blades, etc. Here's a couple more interesting iron relics I kept to preserve....Not sure what they are yet. (a hook & a scalpel?) Will try to get them ID'ed better...

Here's some of the smaller Colonial goodies that WERE masked by all that iron & I unmasked with the T2. This is what I was after. Three 1700's "tombac" buttons (I think they are a mix of pewter & silver so they shine nice). One's a very large coat button about the size of a half dollar. The other relic is a brass Colonial shoe buckle part. The inner pins part (forget what they are called). It was a solid 81 on the T2. This would be a perfect place to try out one of the new small DD coils.....

Here's a close up of the large decorated Colonial button. (The picture is washed out from the sun & does it no justice). These are fun to find & Washington inaugural buttons were this size so it's always gets the blood pumping. No GW this time, but a stagecoach stop is a perfect place for one to end up lost....
Maybe next time, & I know there's coins masked here too....

Yes, I did use a T2 here & this is a Fisher forum....but it has just been announced like we said along that the T2 was the prototype of the F75 so that makes it OK ;) I used the iron settings of disc 21 to cut out nails & high 80's sensitivity.....
I also filmed this short hunt & a video should probably appear online soon when I get a chance.....
HH,
Bill

I wonder if the F75 could do the same, or close with it's lesser iron mode...

5, or 6. I just have been using the T2 alot longer & feel I recognize the audio + number ID's better..

Bill

I have been running 15 but stilll hit some iron when I would rather not...

Hey bill, nice stuff! The scalpel thingy may be an early drill bit i've seen some before can't remember where...nothin like colonial goodies to make you smile and start the season off right!
