1st Etrac Hunt

New member
Went on my first hunt with the new Etrac today at a local park. Dug everything which included 27 pulltabs and bottle caps, 2 80's dimes and a 1941 penny. The penny surprised
me since things sink pretty fast in our soil and old coins are rare. My settings were:
sensitivity=auto +3
threshold limit=default
volume limit=29
volume gain 29
response=normal
tone id=multi
sounds=conductive
variability=29
limits=29
threshold pitch=28
deep=off
fast=on
trash=high
ground=difficult
noise canceled
response=normal
sensitivity typically was around 16 to 20
Patterns: Minelab Coins, Sabisch Coins and All Metal.
Managed to locate using the wiggle and tried all metal and found it manageable. Was pleasantly surprised at how slow you can swing the Etrac. Once I dig some good targets and see how it talks to me then I think I'll really be able to pull out some good stuff. I bag and mark everything I dig so I don't have to rely on my faulty memory to remember where the targets are hitting. I hunted for 4 1/2 hours and didn't find the Etrac fatiguing at all, very well balanced.Definitely a lot more info to brain process than my F2. Also tried out the Pro Pointer and the Lesche digger and both were nice. Kudos to Bart also for giving me a good deal.
Thanks All

Looks good. Congratulations on the finds and thanks for the update! One thing I might suggest is "too slow" will kill you on depth in Auto. If you've got a coin garden try it. My 8" IH will not sound off in Auto +3 with 'too' slow of a swing. When sped up, it will sound good and clear. Find the right speed and you're good to go. In manual, you can move at a snail's pace and still get targets to sound off.

Congrats on the new e-trac and on your first hunt. Bart at Big Boys Hobbies gave me a great deal as well. I've had mine for 4 days, but I haven't been able to hunt do to the rain.

I'll try deep=on and fast=off later today and speed up the swing. I live in a townhouse so my "test garden" is local parks. :thumbup:
Thanks for the tips...

U will find that deep on will give u more jumpy numbers, by using a high gain with deep off, you get more stable readings on deep coins

How about sensitivity, I run auto+3 now?
