I got my new detector Friday, too late to really do much more than just put it together do a quick scan of the book and a vid I bought. I also got the X-1 so there was one more thing to get set up.
Winter is closing fast and Saturday was to be nice day so I decided to go out without much in terms of testing etc. It is sort of like the Quattro so I was used to all the sounds.
I only had about 2 hours to use it so my results were not that good as I only knew the top right corner of smart find or 00 - 28 or so was going to be worth taking a look at.
dug one hole a solid 00 - 28 but like I have written before nothing was at the bottom of the hole. The x-1 showed lots of iron once I got down into the ash. Seems like in some spots this ash gives off a perfect tone while no coin ever shows up.
I did find a quarter under some swings and found another good spot that I let go because the park was getting too crowded.
I like it so far. I set it to accept everything and did not play with much else in ways of settings. But when I tested my coins and junk finds today I see where this gives you much more precise info than the quattro. Having those two numbers makes a difference. Although, it appears that some things are going to look like coins no matter which machine you use. Solid copper pipe for one.
I still have lots to learn but think that it really is going to help make better decisions.
Oh one guy here said he wishes he had a dollar for every time his x-1 switch was the wrong way. Well I would have made more than a few bucks. I think the probe is great but that switch design really could be better. As you can tell part of my time was spent scanning the sky.
One last thing is that when I tested all my items and did them on edge I really got to see how much it affects the numbers. Seems to explain some of the things I saw with the quattro that had me totally confused.
Oh one more bit, this does recover quicker and the start up is great. I might turn the thing off more often now because a restart takes a few seconds.
Hope the weather holds off long enough to get a few more days testing it out.
