Finally got some decent weather. The ground is still frozen in most places but i found an area that was thawed. I have a brand new 5 inch coil I wanted to try out and also give power balancing a try . Picked up this quarter and a buffalo nickle and another nickle that I havent cleaned up yet. i think its older than a buffalo.Ill discuss power balancing later. I dont think the directions I followed are correct.

That is a good looking coin. Dont you just love that little coil. When I got mine, I put it on about 2 years ago. I never took it off.
I dont think that I lost any depth. It is the concentric coil. I love mine... KEN, IND.

That's one super nice looking Barber quarter.

What kind of area were you hunting and what were your settings?

I was hunting the wooded area of a park. Like I said , the ground is still frozen. There was an area along a hillside that must have been facing the right direction for it was thawed. I walked around inserting a screwdriver in the ground until find the unfozen part.

I tried power balancing with the threshold set on the second o of the Tesoro emblem.Sensitivity a little in the red. Discrimination set at the minimum.

Very nice finds, the Barber quarter is the bomb !

BEEN CONSIDERING THE VAQUERO .NEVER OWNED A TESORO.IS IT A GREAT COIN MACHINE?HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN USING IT?HH

Metalfun .This is my third year with the Vaquero Its my third detector. The other two being a Garrett and a White.. I dont know if the Vaq is a better detector but its been a lot luckier. I have found about 2 dozen coins from the 1800s with it , I think I had 1 total with the other 2 units . It Especially sniffs out those old corroded nickles. Its a relic finder and jewelry finder for sure.
